SKUNKED!!!!!

Not only has my apartment been flooded but now my dog has been sprayed by a skunk. I got up this morning and took him out as usual... we were walking along without a care in the world until we reached the little parkette. Suddenly he goes running after something and of course I realize a moment to late that that something is a skunk. Murphy got nailed right in the face. It was horrible. Everytime Murphy got upwind he almost knocked me out with the smell. Anyway, I got him home and had to leave him in the backyard while I looked up a remedy for skunk smell. Of course did I have any of the ingredients... nooooo while I did have the liquid dish soap. But I had to walk to the Sobeys on Broadview to get Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda. So if you ever need to clean up skunk here's the recipe (for a large dog):

32 once bottle of Hyrdogen Peroxide
2 tablespoons baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid dishsoap

Mix together and throughly soak your dog with it. I found that if your dog is slightly wet that it was much easier to rub in the solution(especilly if they are like Murphy who has a teflon coat). Rub solution in well. Throughly rinse dog.

It's not absolutely perfect. But it is much better than what you start with. So now Murphy smells like wet dog with a faint air de parfume de skunk. At least the smell doesn't really permeate the whole apartment.

Of course, if my apartment was a mess before now it's like a hurricane went through.
Oh well, at least I have today to get it cleaned up.
